WHAT IS BITM?
BITM is a documentary film about how can a milenary culture (Tibet) survive at present out of their lands, in different geographic contexts. BITM has two well divided parts: animation; where we recreate different scenes from the magical tibetan mithology, and the audiovisual; where numerous testimonys will bring us their vision through poetry, their arts, politics and buddhism. The title of the film comes from the song of Bob Dylan “Blowin’ In The Mountains”, adaptated by the tibetan singer Loten Namling, with the title “Blowin’ In The Mountains”.
WHO MAKES BITM?
The BITM crew is formed by innovatives creatives from the audiovisual environment, through music, design and multimedia. BITM is made up of a group of persons free thinkers and independent from different nationalities: from Spain, U.S.A., Argentina, Andorra...
WHICH PHILOSOPHY FOLLOWS BITM?
To take our knowledge from the artistic and audiovisual culture to the documentary itself and its own interaction with this fascinating culture, that is the tibetan, with the intention that it produces an enriching simbiosis between both parts.
IS BITM JUST ANOTHER DOCUMENTARY ABOUT TIBET?
We believe not. Even if it has an important part of investigation (that’s been taking more than 4 years) and of report, our approach goes further on from the conventional aestethic and the standard narration. We also have developed the project in a tridimensional structure through the film, a series of expositions and a book on the future.
IS BITM A POLITICAL FILM?
BITM is made up by people with different points of view and totally independent from any cause or ideology. However, some of the opinions exposed on this film can be considered as political and historic. We don’t believe that BITM is focus in politics, but more in the luminous aspects from the human beings and in concepts such as compassion, overcoming and universal justice. We want to leave as an statement that BITM has nothing against the people of China and its milenary culture, we just make a cultural portrait of Tibet out of its territorial context.
WHO APPEARS IN BITM?
Many important figures: HH Dalai Lama, Tashi Wangdi (Envoy), Penpa Tsering (Minister), Kelsang Gyaltsen (Envoy), Thubten Wangchen (President Tibet House Foundation Barcelona), Lhasang Tsering (poet), Loten Namling (musician), JJI Exile Brothers (Tibetan Rock Blues), Palden Gyatso (ex prisioner & writer), Richard Gere (actor), Mikel Dunham (writer)...
WHO COMPOSES THE SCORE AND DOES THE VOICEOVER?
We return to the culture simbiosis, for that we have decided to compose an original score with the traditional tibetan musician Loten Namling (who has already colaborated with punk and metal bands such as Sepultura) and mix him with more contemporary electronics beats. In the animation parts, as narrator, and the voiceover we would like to count with – following the tradition of documentarys such us ‘Dalai Lama Renaissance’ where the voiceover is being played by Harrison Ford or ‘Book of the dead’ by Leonard Cohen- with the voice of Lou Reed.
WHERE IS FILMED BITM?
India (Dharamsala, Budhgaya, Sikkim), Nepal (Kathmandu), EEUU (LA), Spain(Barcelona)...
IN WHICH POINT OF ITS PRODUCTION IS ACTUALLY BITM?
We are around the 60% of the filming; we still have to film some landscape shots in Laddakh (India) and in some other parts of India ; also the high point interview with HH Dalai Lama and HH Karmapa and if we have enough financing visit some tibetan communities in the USA and some chinese intelectuals in London.
WHAT WE NEED TO GET IT DONE?
60.000$ to use for production purposes, material, travels, workers, allowances, post-production, score and graphism.
CAN I SEE SOMETHING FROM BITM?
Yes, we have a teaser (non commercial trailer) done with the footage we already have as a presentation where to meet some of the important figures that appear on our project. We also have put online two complete testimonys from JJI Exile Brothers (Tibetan Rock Blues Band) and Mr. Lhasang Tsering (poet and activist) for your web screening.
HAS BITM ANY COMMERCIAL POSSIBILITIES?
We have previous contacts with tv channels from Spain, Italy, France and Andorra. There’s also a vast circuit for documentary films.
